Day 3: Gorilla tracking
After a very early breakfast, we go to the park offices, for briefing and gorilla group allocation. All forest activities are conducted by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. At this Center we meet the people who are joining the tracking group. 8 people in each group led by a ranger guide and armed escorts into the forest. Gorilla trekking is less predictable when it comes to the duration of the hike, but the good news is the ranger guide is in communication with the trackers who leave early in the morning before the visitors. And it’s very rewarding after meeting the gentle gorilla family in their natural home. Spend that quality time with them either by taking much more photos or just enjoying at once in a life Gorilla trekking experience. Return back for the tracking certificates before getting back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, we join community walk. The highlight of this walk is meeting the Batwa. These are pygmy people who lived in the forest before it was turned into a national park. They faced stigma from the general population which resulted into their settlement into the forest, others include, authentic traditional music and dancing, traditional healers etc. Then return to the lodge and rest.
